Destroy Glabellar Lines With Botox in Northern Virginia

Individuals with prominent lines between their eyebrows, known as glabellar lines, are often perceived to be angry or older than they actually are.

Many of these patients hope to look more relaxed and younger and turn to Botox as a non-surgical solution to their resting frown face.

WHAT ARE GLABELLAR LINES?

Glabellar or frown lines are single vertical or multiple lines between the eyebrows.

They can develop in patients as young as 20, and frequent movement of the glabellar muscle can cause them to deepen with age.

As a result, glabellar lines can add years to a patient’s appearance and make them look as though they are constantly mad.

HOW DO FROWN LINES FORM?

As we age, collagen and elastin production decrease, causing the skin to thin and become more prone to wrinkles.

Contracting muscles, that are responsible for expressions, further increase the likelihood of resting and static glabellar lines.

HOW CAN BOTOX REDUCE GLABELLAR LINES?

Botox is the brand name for botulinum toxin type A and a cosmetic injectable approved to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles.

When injected into the glabellar muscle, it blocks the nerve signals responsible for contraction.

Once the muscles are deactivated, the skin above becomes smoother and frown lines diminish or disappear.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN TREATING FROWN LINES WITH BOTOX?

Prior to treatment, patients will consult with their dermatologist or plastic surgeon to discuss their concerns and aesthetic goals.

At this time, it’s important for men and women to express the degree of immobility and relaxation that they hope to achieve with Botox.

Based on this information, the injector will develop a treatment plan, including the amount and placement of product.

Next, the area between the eyebrows will be anesthetized with ice, and series of injections will be administered.

The treatment typically lasts less than 10 minutes, and patients can return to their usual activities immediately after.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

Within 5-8 days, the glabellar muscle becomes parlayed and frown lines are significantly reduced or eliminated.

Results last up to 3 months, and patients will require a touch-up treatment in order to maintain the effects of Botox.
