Chemical Peel Q&A

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that provides even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. The chemical peel solution removes dead skin cells and stimulates the growth and production of new, healthy skin.

Rostami OPC offers chemical peels for:

  • Tightening your skin
  • Reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Decreasing pore size
  • Removing pigmented and sun-damaged skin
  • Improving the appearance of acne scars

Chemical peels are also an excellent treatment for tightening the skin under your eyes, as well as softening the fine lines around your eyes.

What are the types of chemical peels?

The practice offers a variety of chemical peels to meet all beauty needs and goals. Chemical peels differ in depth and strength, which may play a role in the amount of downtime you need following your treatment.

The types of chemical peels offered at Rostami OPC include:

Brown-out peel

The brown-out peel treats hyperpigmentation, including sun-damaged skin and melasma. The doctor applies the chemical solution to your skin and then sends you home. They instruct you to leave the peel on your skin for a set period of time, ranging from 4 hours for a mini brown-out peel to 8-10 hours for the regular brown-out peel.

Brighten melanage peel

Dr. Rostami considers the brighten melanage peel the tried-and-true treatment for improving texture and pigmentation issues. The treatment includes the application of a creme masque at the office and an at-home treatment for post-peel care.

Retexturize peel

To improve fine lines and wrinkles, Rostami OPC uses the retexturize peel. You can expect mild peeling after this treatment with a downtime of about 2-3 days.

Refine peel

If you have large pores and fine lines, you may benefit from the refine peel. It’s considered a “beginner peel” for anyone who has never had chemical application to their skin. Microdermabrasion treatment is performed with this peel, and overall there’s little to no irritation and zero downtime.

Vi Peel™

Rostami OPC also offers the Vi Vitality Peel, which is a mild chemical peel that renews and refreshes your skin. It works on all skin types, and results are apparent in 5-7 days.

Acidic peels

The practice also offers different acidic peels, including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. The acidic peels vary in strength and are used to treat a range of skin concerns, including acne, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

How do I know which chemical peel is best for me?

Before recommending a treatment, the doctors conduct a comprehensive evaluation and talks with you to better understand your beauty concerns and goals. In addition to a lengthy discussion about your aesthetic needs, they also review your medical history and evaluate your skin.

Based on the information collected during your consultation, Dr. Rostami develops your personalized treatment plan to best meet your needs, which includes the best chemical peel for you.

They review what you can expect during your chemical peel and the amount of downtime you need following your treatment. The cosmetic facial plastic surgeons may also suggest a series of chemical peels so you get the best results.
