Much like rosacea on the skin, ocular rosacea causes redness and irritation along the eyelids. Ocular rosacea tends to affect the naturally occurring oil glands along the eyelids. Dysfunction of these oil glands can lead to an ineffective tear film and can worsen or cause dry eyes. Treatment of ocular rosacea is imperative not only to improve the symptoms of irritation and redness, but to also prevent dry eyes.
