What Are Lip Fillers and Are They Safe?

What are lip fillers and are they safe?

If you don’t know what lip fillers are, chances are that you’ve at least seen how they look. Just one glance at celebrity Kylie Jenner reveals the stunning results of fillers.

What are lip fillers?

The lip enhancers stars like Kylie are using are dermal fillers injected by cosmetic surgeons. “Hyaluronic acid filler” is another name they go by.

Are they safe?

Fillers to plump up your lips are completely safe as long as they’re injected by the right person, like a professional with years of experience and an understanding of facial anatomy.

You should avoid getting the treatment at a spa or beauty salon.

The process is still fairly new so there isn’t a lot of legislation preventing the kind beautician who does your hair from offering you the service.

But don’t ever take them up on it. If a deal at a non-medical office sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

How long do they last?

It’s a case-by-case basis, but generally you can expect your treatment to last somewhere between four and six weeks.

How long is the procedure?

You can get it done on your lunch break.

Treatment doesn’t have to be a long process. Sometimes injections are only for a part of your lip. Or maybe you only want to touch up your upper (or bottom) lip, a doctor can take care of you within 20 minutes.

When will you see the results?

Your lips will be numb for about 15 minutes but after some slight swelling goes down in 24 hours, the results are yours to bask in.

What if you don’t like your lip fillers?

Filler is a natural occurring substance, so if you aren’t happy with the procedure, it will all be gone within a few months.

Any celebrity horror stories?

Celebrities are a magnet for drama, to be sure.

Sophie Kasaei, of Geordie Shore, said her addiction to lip fillers left her feeling like “the elephant man.” Her lips looked lopsided but she clearly over did it.

How much do fillers cost?

Filler can typically run patients anywhere between $400 to $2,000. Contact us today to find out what specials we have available!

What can you get done with fillers?

As big or as little as you’d like. Your doctor will help you accentuate your face, even if that’s just plumping up your top lip or advising an increase in size after some experience with fillers.

What not to do with fillers?

There are a handful things to avoid on the day of your procedure.

First, don’t hit the gym. The increase in blood to your face can cause bruising and bleeding. Painkillers, fish oil and Vitamin E can also thin your blood and lead to gnarly results–like more bruising and swelling.

Don’t be shy to ask if you have any questions or even if you’d like to take a glance at before/after photos of our previous patients.
