A Great Guide to the Juvederm Filler Family of Products

As we age, collagen and elastin production decrease and can result in wrinkles, lines, creases, and sagging skin.

Additionally, hyaluronic acid is another naturally occurring substance that diminishes with age and causes a loss of structure and volume in the face.

While all of these effects can make men and women look older or tired, the Juvederm family of dermal fillers can correct these concerns in a 15-60-minute appointment.

In fact, this group of injectables is often used to rejuvenate the eyes, cheeks, neck, nasolabial folds, and lips, and a patient’s aesthetic goals usually determine which product is most appropriate.

So, which Juvederm product is right for you?

WHAT IS JUVEDERM?

Juvederm is a dermal filler that is injected into the mid to deep dermis to plump and lift skin, improve facial contours, and enhance a patient’s features.

It’s made of hyaluronic acid, which is known for its ability to attract water and make the skin soft, smooth, and full.

The Juvederm family of fillers complement one another and are manufactured by Allergan, the company that’s also responsible for Botox.

Products include Juvederm Voluma XC, Juvederm Vollure XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, and Juvederm Volbella XC.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST JUVEDERM PRODUCT FOR YOUR CONCERNS AND GOALS?

Juvederm treatments should only be performed by a skilled and experienced injector who will assess your face, concerns, and goals to recommend which product is right for you.

However, it’s important for patients to understand how each Juvederm filler works, and its indications for use.

Juvederm Voluma XC is tailored to treat age-related volume loss in the cheeks. For moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles, Juvederm Vollure XC can be injected to smooth and refresh skin.

Juvederm Ultra XC was created to plump lips for added fullness. For a subtler lip enhancement or to soften lines around the mouth, Juvederm Volbella delivers natural results.

DO JUVEDERM INJECTIONS HURT?

Most patients find Juvederm injections fairly comfortable, as many of the products contain lidocaine. In addition, a topical anesthetic can also be applied prior to treatment.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

Most patients require one treatment to achieve desired effects, and depending on the type and amount of filler used, Juvederm results can last from 1- 2 years.

Typically, Juvederm Voluma XC can last up to 2 years; Juvederm Vollure XC may last up to 18 months; Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Volbella may last a year or longer.

Results can then be maintained with touch-up injections.
