Soof Lift – the Lower Eyelid Facelift

Did you know that a SOOF lift in Virginia can effectively rejuvenate the face and target under eye bags to produce a refreshed and youthful appearance.

Now, you’re probably asking yourself, “What’s a SOOF lift though?” We’ll get to that.

Many individuals throughout the course of their lives have been asked if they are tired or stressed based on their appearance. Many patients can attribute their less than refreshed look to lack of sleep or a demanding professional and personal schedule.

However, others look in the mirror and note that the skin around their eyes has begun to sag and their face is slowly dropping.

Fortunately, there’s a solution for this.

SO, WHAT IS A SOOF LIFT?

SOOF lift stands for suborbicularis oculi fat lift. This fat is located under the eyes, and its displacement is responsible for bags that may present as dark circles, puffiness, sagging lower eyelids, loose skin, and wrinkles.

All of these signs can contribute to a patient looking older and tired, but can be easily remedied with a SOOF lift performed by an experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon.

WHAT CAUSES UNDER EYE BAGS AND DROOPY EYELIDS?

As we age, the structure of the face is affected by the loss of elasticity and volume. The result is sagging and reduced tone in the face, especially the eyelids, mouth, chin, and neck.

For many patients, these effects can be quite concerning. When they seek professional consultation, they are often advised that creams, at-home devices, or non-invasive treatments cannot provide adequate correction and that a SOOF lift is a safe and effective surgical option.

HOW IS A SOOF LIFT PERFORMED?

When a plastic surgeon performs a SOOF lift, he or she makes a small incision below the eye. The suborbicularis oculi fat is then lifted, repositioned, and attached to the facial bone.

After this procedure, patients note that the discoloration, protrusion, excess skin, and lines under their eyes are eliminated or significantly reduced.

RECOVERY

A SOOF lift is a straight-forward surgical procedure when in the hands of a capable surgeon. The recovery time is typically 1-2 weeks.
