Mohs Closure Reston
Skin cancer can occur along the eyelid. A new/acquired eyelid lesion or one that has changed in appearance, size, or color needs to be evaluated by one of our oculofacial plastic surgeons. These lesions are biopsied for further evaluation.
If cancerous, your surgeon will need to ensure that the eyelid and surrounding skin are cancer-free. This is done either in the form of MOHS surgery (performed by a dermatologist) or frozen section (margin control), which is performed by one of our trained oculofacial plastic surgeons. It is important to have any eyelid lesion evaluated by one of our trained surgeons to determine if it is cancerous.
