Jeuveau Vs. Botox: Which Anti-aging Injectable is Best?

JEUVEAU RESTON

The aesthetic industry is abuzz with the arrival of Jeuveau, which has been dubbed Newtox. This anti-aging injectable gained FDA-approval earlier this year and is poised to serve as a worthy competitor to Botox.

However, Jeuveau Reston is facing off against a formidable opponent. Botox has long been viewed as the gold-standard of neurotoxins and currently accounts for 70% of all neuromodulator treatments.

Let’s take a closer look at the two injectables, and if patients should consider making the switch.

WHAT IS JEUVEAU?

Jeuveau Reston is an FDA-approved neurotoxin that is designed to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles. It is currently cleared to smooth vertical lines between the eyebrows, otherwise known as glabellar lines or 11’s.

It is the first new neuromodulator to enter the aesthetic market in almost a decade, joining Botox, Dysport and Xeomin.

THE SIMILARITIES

When it comes to these two neurotoxins, there are far more similarities than differences. Both products are comprised of botulinum toxin type A and injected into muscles to cause temporary relaxation of wrinkles and lines.

They’re both also molecularly identical and share the same efficacy and safety profile. As a result, the two products can be used interchangeably to provide comparable anti-aging results.

THE DIFFERENCES

One of the key differences between is price. Jeuveau Reston is expected to be priced 25-30% lower than Botox.

Unlike Botox which has cosmetic and medical uses, Newtox is indicated for aesthetic purposes only. As a result, Evolus, the company that manufactures Jeuveau, is more flexible in pricing because it’s not affected by government reimbursement.

With that being said, Newtox can offer a more affordable alternative for first-timers or regular Botox users who are looking for a more cost-effective option.
